INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- State health Commissioner Judy Monroe says 10,000 doses of a recalled swine flu vaccine for children were shipped to 43 of Indiana's local health departments.
The federal government on Tuesday recalled 800,000 pre-filled syringes for children ages 6 months to nearly 3 years because tests indicate they have lost some strength.
Monroe says the recalled vaccine poses no safety problems and the shots are still expected to stimulate an immune response in people who received them.
She says children who received only one dose of the two-dose immunization series should complete the second dose.
Her agency is working with local health departments and other swine flu vaccine providers to find and return any unused doses of the vaccine to its manufacturer.
