INDEPENDENCE, Ky. -- Kenton County is on a path to banning smoking in all county buildings.
Kenton County Fiscal Court heard the first reading of an ordinance that would expand the ban beyond the County Administration Building in Covington.
The expansion would include the county courthouse in Independence, the clubhouse at the Kenton County golf course, and the Public Works Department.
Anti-smoking proponents would like to see a county-wide ban on indoor smoking but see this latest ordinance as a first step.
The ordinance is expected to pass and it's scheduled to be voted on Dec. 22. If it passes, the ban would take effect next month.
