EVENDALE, Ohio -- All lanes are open again after the scene was cleared where five vehicles were involved in a serious accident on northbound I-75 near the Glendale Milford Road exit.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Traffic along northbound I-75 in Evendale may continue to move at a slow pace as traffic congestion is relieved.
Early reports had indicated a truck was traveling in the southbound lanes when it lost its load which went across the median and hit four cars. That caused several of the cars to collide.
Two people suffered non life-threatening injuries. A medical helicopter transported one of the victims to the hospital while an ambulance took the other. One of the victims had to be extricated from the wreckage.
Bystanders on the scene used an extinguisher to put out a fire from a gas tank before crews arrived.
Police had been allowing traffic to move in a single-file line, but drivers were still being urged to avoid the area. The Glendale Milford exit was blocked.
People were also advised to take alternate routes, including
the Norwood Lateral or the Ronald Reagan Highway to northbound I-71 to westbound I-275 and then back onto northbound I-75.
Traffic was backed up past the Lockland split.
Artimis had expected the closure to last through the rush hour, making the ride home from work for many an ordeal.
Southbound I-75 in that area was also moving slowly because many drivers slowed down to look at the accident. That caused southbound I-75 to back up as well.
Police have not released any other information.
