LUDLOW, Ky. -- A school project on how to start a business turned into so much more for students at one local school.

As a result, fourth grade students at Ludlow Elementary are now making a difference in the lives of children from across Northern Kentucky.

Five-year-old Alex, of Florence, is getting is his first try at the new Wii game system at Children's Outpatient Northern Kentucky in Crestview Hills.

The Wii is the newest addition to the occupational and physical therapy unit. The game system helps with a variety of needs.

"[It helps with] strengthening and balance, posture, coordination. So having the Wii here is a good way to motivate kids to work on those things because its fun and interactive," said Beth Woeste, a physical therapist at Children's Hospital.

It was a gift for children from children.

On Friday, representatives from Children's Hospital and Children Inc., recognized the fourth grade students at Ludlow Elementary for their fundraising efforts.

The students did it by selling hundreds of bracelets.

"We made brochures and sent out letters and we spent a lot of time working on it," said Carly Motzer, a Ludlow student.

The students raised close to $600 despite a tough economy.

"At first we were concerned it was going to take more time, more money but than we thought, however, the students were very, very motivated to do this and we ran out of bracelets quicker than we could sell them," said Pam Schlagbaum, Ludlow teacher.

As a result, their service learning project is now motivating other children in physical therapy one step at a time.

"It makes me feel really good deep inside and it makes me think wow! I just helped make someone's life easier and it's warm nice feeling," said Motzer.

Children's Hospital still has money left over.

They are looking to buy a flat-screen TV to go with the Wii.

Ludlow Elementary partnered with Children's Hospital and Children Inc., for the service learning project.
