Man Admits To Stabbing In 911 Call

Last Update: 10/29 9:18 am
NEWPORT, Ky. - A man under arrest for a fatal stabbing admitted to the crime in the 911 call Wednesday morning.

In the call released by police, 35-year-old Richard Dickerson of Detroit, Michigan says to a dispatcher, "Last night, I'm not sure what time it was, about 9 or 10:00. I think I might have killed somebody down the street, and they're still in the house, and I'm pretty sure..."

When asked by the dispatcher what made him think the person was dead, Dickerson explains, "Because he tried to, he sucker-punched me in the face and tried to stab me, and I stabbed him. I got the knife from him and stabbed him."

Officers were called to a home on West 10th Street around 6 a.m. directly after the 911 call was placed.

Chief Robbie Hall says they took Dickerson into custody. Dickerson is being charged with manslaughter.

No information about the victim is being released at this time.
