CINCINNATI -- A Hamilton man will spend the next 30 months in prison for threatening to blow up seven Cincinnati area landmarks including the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Frederick D. Purvis, 43, was also sentenced to six years of supervised release after his prison term.
Purvis pleaded guilty on June 25, 2009 to one count of making a bomb threat in Ohio and one count of making a bomb threat in Kentucky.
He admitted to driving to a hotel in Fairfield in 2008, logging onto the Internet and creating an email account under a fake name. Purvis admitted to using the account to send an email to the FBI Web site claiming he planted bombs in seven locations and that they would detonate in the upcoming weekend.
Purvis claimed he placed bombs at Paul Brown Stadium, the Brent Spence Bridge, the Big Mac Bridge, the Old Coney Bridge, the Indiana Kentucky Bridge near Hollywood Casino (formerly known as Argosy Casino), the actual casino, and the CVG Airport.
No bombs were ever found.
