EVENDALE, Ohio -- "I didn't want to look down because I thought maybe I was missing part of my legs," said Rico Middlebrooks.
Middlebrooks survived after his vehicle was ripped in half Thursday after he says a tar kettle came over the median on I-75.
Middlebrooks was flown to University Hospital after being cut from his Charger.
Friday, other than a limp and some bumps and bruises, he's okay.
Middlebrooks says the real blessing was that he was alone in his car.
"My daughter, she was supposed to come home for the holidays. And normally I would strap her in the car seat in the back seat,” said Middlebrooks. “And as you can see, the back seat was down the street."
Now, 26 year-old Middlebrooks says he has a new appreciation for the little things.
"It's a blessing and I'm just glad to be here,” he said. “Guy called me ‘Miracle Man’ earlier, ha, ha!”
