COVINGTON, Ky. -- A Kenton County jury found a Covington man guilty of murdering a 3-month-old baby Thursday.
A sentence of 30-years in prison has also been handed down, according to prosecutors.
The jury began deliberations around 12:30 p.m. and returned the guilty verdict just before 3 p.m.
On Thursday morning, Aaron Allen told juror's there's no question he killed his girlfriend's baby, Robert Ross Jr.
His attorneys were asking jurors to find Allen guilty of manslaughter, a lesser charge.
The sentencing phase will begin this afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to a Covington apartment complex back in July 2008 to find Ross Junior not breathing.
He died two days later at the hospital.
Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders said Allen violently shook the baby and fractured the baby's skull.
Allen told jurors on the stand he smoked crack cocaine and used alcohol. He also admitted to watching pornographic movies prior to the incident.
Allen said the baby was crying and he got frustrated.
"In my mind, I was looking at him and it was my fault. There's nobody else to blame, there's no question about it. Brandi was not involved. Her father was not involved. It was my fault," said Allen.
Allen showed little emotion when the verdict was announced.
He had faced up to life in prison.
