HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The spokeswoman for the Northern Kentucky Independent District Health Department said health workers have distributed 3,300 doses of the swine flu vaccine as of 5 p.m.

They are prepared to distribute 8,000 doses but it appears they will not vaccinate that many people.

On Wednesday morning, there were close to 700 people waiting in line by 10 a.m.

"Hour and half two hours not too bad. We had the day off because it's Veterans Day so we had the time to spend," said Pat Desmond of Cold Spring.

By noon, the long lines had cleared up surprising many.

"She said there wasn't lines on TV which helped. We jumped in the car, the shuttle picked us up almost immediately when we parked and here we are," said John Powell of Independence.

Tank donated several buses to transport the crowds since public parking wasn't permitted on campus.

"I think its great. It's very convenient. Its good to come in with our kids and get shuttled right to the spot. So hopefully we won't have to wait too long," said Amanda Henry of Alexandria.

By 3 p.m., nurses at 44 tables had distributed 2,300 doses of the swine flu vaccine. They were prepared to give out 8,000.

"If we have leftovers after this clinic from the 8,000, we will reassess whether we want to reallocate the remaining to one of our clinics, if we want to allocate more doses to the doctors offices. There's plenty of people that want it so whatever we don't use is not going to go to waste," said Emily Gresham Wherle with the Health Department.
