CORYDON, Ky. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down near Henderson in western Kentucky.
An assessment team confirmed that an F3 tornado churned for 12 miles through Union and Henderson Counties on Saturday afternoon.
Meteorologist Jim Packett in Paducah said Monday that the tornado struck five miles south-southeast of Waverly, tracked northeastward through Corydon and ended six miles southwest of Henderson. The damage trail was 300 yards wide and peak winds were 140 mph.
It destroyed six homes and did major damage to 10 others.
The Weather Service also verified an F1 tornado hit near Morganfield, tracking for two miles southeast of the city with peak winds of 90 mph.
There were two known injuries, but no fatalities from the storms.
