LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The superintendent of a Kentucky school district with a football coach under indictment following a player's heat-related death says applications will be sought for that coach's position after the school year ends in June.
Jefferson County Superintendent Sheldon Berman told The Courier-Journal for a story published Thursday that the job will need to be filled because he does not believe the criminal case against the coach will be resolved before the school will need to have a new coach in place.
Coach David Jason Stinson has pleaded not guilty to reckless homicide in death of 15-year-old Max Gilpin, who died after collapsing at an August practice.
Stinson is reassigned to other non-teaching duties until his case is resolved. Former assistant coach Jason Hiser has been serving as the interim coach.
