Nick Lachey Talks About Jessica Simpson's Weight

UNDATED (AP) -- There's been a lot of talk about Jessica Simpson's added weight lately, but Simpson says she feels that people today "focus on so many things that are completely pointless."

She told the crowd during a concert in Charlottesville, Virgina, "no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder. So just appreciate." She also thanked everyone for their support.

Lots of people have been defending Simpson against people who have called her fat, including sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra and
Heidi Klum.

Simpson's ex-husband, Nick Lachey, tells People.com that he "can't believe" people are making such a huge deal about her weight. He says he hopes she's happy, "whatever size" she is.
