COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The nation's largest university is announcing new measures to help its students deal with the recession and stay in school.
Ohio State University said Monday it would offer additional financial aid and emergency loans to students and their families dealing with increased economic hardships.
The school also is giving assurances that if tuition increases for the 2009-10 academic year, student aid will see a similar increase.
University President Gordon Gee says now more than ever, Ohio State must assure that young people are able to pursue their dreams and earn a degree, so they can use their talents to enhance the economy.
Ohio State is transferring $1 million from its rainy day fund to bolster the $850,000 set aside for emergency student loans.
