COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A new poll shows that Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland's job approval rating has dropped dramatically over the last two months.

The same poll finds that about half of all Ohioans give the governor failing marks on his handling of the economy and the state budget.

The Quinnipiac University survey released Friday says Strickland has a 46 percent job approval rating, down from 57 percent in early May.

That's his lowest rating since February 2007.

The poll also finds that most Ohioans support Strickland's proposal to put video slot machines at Ohio's horse racing tracks.

But even more think voters should get they final say.

The telephone survey of 1,259 Ohio voters was taken between June 26 and July 1. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
