FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood is preparing to mourn the victims of last week's shooting at a memorial service on Tuesday.
President Barack Obama and the first lady will travel to Texas for the memorial.
They will talk privately with families of those who were killed and with wounded soldiers and their families. The president will then address the Fort Hood community during a memorial service.The service will be held on the parade field at Fort Hood. There will be 2,000 seats at the service and additional standing areas for thousands of invited soldiers and invited guests.
Thirteen people were killed and another 29 were injured in last week's shooting.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is accused of firing off more than 100 rounds before a civilian police officer shot him. He survived and is in stable condition. Officials say Hasan will be tried in a military court.
