Resident Escapes Raging House Fire Overnight

Last Update: 4/27 8:13 am
A Golf Manor man is finding a new place to stay after escaping a raging fire that destroyed his home.

Neighbors in the 2400 block of St. Albans Avenue called 911 early Monday morning after seeing the fire burning in the nearby home.

When firefighters arrived on the scene around 3:20 a.m., they found the two-story home fully engulfed in flames. Crews called in a second alarm and battled the fire from a defensive position outside the building.

The resident made it out in time, but officials say his home was completely gutted by the flames. No one was injured.

The Red Cross is helping him to find another place to stay.
