The winter season is almost upon the Tri-State and that means snow, ice, and cold weather.
The Butler County Engineer's office held its annual snow summit Thursday morning to go over weather coordination for the upcoming winter season. Local police and fire departments from the surrounding areas along with school districts attended the summit.
"Having the summit equates to better service. I think through the coordination, cooperation that we can provide the citizens with better service. It's all taxpayer dollars. The better we can perform as a whole unit together, the better the citizens are and the better the service," said Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens.
Snow summit attendees heard information on salt preparedness, operations, weather forecasting (including the new Weather Tap system used by the Butler County Sheriff's Dispatchers) and weather effects on pavement.
The Butler County Engineer's office will hold its annual snow rodeo next week. The rodeo is designed to get trucks and crews ready for the winter season. Crews will outfit their trucks for the winter and practice maneuverability on an obstacle course.
