This Thursday night the City of Lakeside Park in Kenton Count honored a group of soldiers just back from their third tour of duty in Iraq.
The city recognized members of the 320th Field Artillery Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division for their service at Barleycorn's on Dixie Highway.
Five years ago Lakeside Park adopted these soldiers.
The soldiers didn't know their supporters at first, but now they say they've formed a special bond.
"They want to know about your family and especially the people of Lakeside Park," said Captain Joe Sincere, Headquarters Battery Commander.
"They really care about who you are," said Sincere. "They want to get to know you and they want to kind of bring you into their family; and it's just been a great experience."
The soldiers also thanked their Tri-state supporters.
Every member of the unit got MP-3 players and Christmas cards from the City of Lakeside Park.
