WAYNE TWP., Ohio -- A driver is seriously injured after a fiery crash in Clermont County overnight that police say may have been made worse by what he allegedly had in his car.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday on Taylor Pike in Wayne Township near Blanchester.

Officials say 25-year-old Gerald De-Nise of Blanchester was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle, overcompensated, and went off the road, crashing into an embankment and a tree.

The crash caused his car to flip over and burst into flames.

Troopers say they found De-Nise on the ground, holding a bag of methamphetamine and meth making materials at the crash scene. Investigators aren't sure if he was thrown from his burning car, or if he crawled out of the vehicle before the fire started.

Rescue crews flew De-Nise to University Hospital for treatment of a traumatic head injury. His condition has not been released.

Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt and when the crash occurred not far from his parents' home.

Police say charges were filed, but have not released any more details.  The crash remains under investigation.

A Haz Mat unit was called to the scene to help clean up any possible meth related hazardous waste.
