Sometimes it just takes a little baseball to bring kids and parents together.
And togetherness is exactly the goal of the Reds Community Fund's "Match" program.
The program teams youth baseball players from different neighborhoods around the Tri-State to promote diversity and acceptance.
The teams, coaches and parents celebrated another successful season Monday night at the Freedom Center, together with new friends.
"That's one of the things that we take most pride in about this program is that it connects neighborhoods that probably wouldn't have an opportunity to intersect in every day life, whether it's Forest Park and Newport, or Price Hill and Monfort Heights, Loveland and Evanston,” said Charley Frank, of the Reds Community Fund. “And that's the beauty of it is that it's using baseball as this common language to bring kids and coaches and parents together."
The evening ended with something everyone could agree on – pizza.
