Tri-State Schools Anticipate Make-Up Days

Last Update: 12/16/2008 6:47 am

With the threat of winter weather headed to the Tri-State, some local school districts have already begun preparing for potential delays or closings.

In Northern Kentucky, Boone and Campbell counties are already facing make-up days at the end of the year due to September's wind storm.

Kenton County banks time during the school year, but students there are will also be making up wind storm days at the end of the year.

School leaders say it is unusual to take a snow day before the December holiday break, but they are prepared to make any necessary delays or cancellations in order to keep the students safe.

"When you have 5,000 students, or if you have 500 students, the safety of those children on the buses is most important to us and the transportation department.  So, we are constantly monitoring the weather and the conditions. When those buses go out, we are very confident we can get them out and get the kids back to school safely and get them home in the afternoon," explains Campbell County Superintendent Anthony Strong.
