Kentucky's state college and university students might be getting a break on next year's tuition.
Gov. Steve Beshear said Tuesday that legislative leaders are working on a plan to ease the financial burden of steadily increasing higher education costs.
A 5-percent cap has been mentioned, but the Governor said nothing firm has been worked out.
"Tuition costs have gone over 10 percent a year for several years," the governor added. "That's not acceptable."
Northern Kentucky University students saw their tuition increase 9.68 percent going into the current school year, according to spokesman Chris Cole.
For the 2007-2008 school year, it was 9.25 percent.
