Though few do it as well, he doesn’t think there’s necessarily a shortage of folks with that talent.
“I don't think there is, or ever will be, a shortage of good joke writers,” he says.
Speaking of writing, Hawkins was formerly the story editor on the sitcom "Titus" on Fox. While he enjoys the freedom of stand-up, he sometimes misses the old Titus gang.
“It was stressful,” he says, “but we laughed all day, every day we were working. And we made a lot of $krill doing that.”
Robert Hawkins performs at Go Bananas in Montgomery Feb. 23 through Feb. 26, Thursday through Sunday. Showtime is 8 p.m., with a 10:30 p.m. showing on Friday and Saturday. $8-$14. $4 Thursday, with college or military ID. Call (513) 984-9288 or visit gobananascomedy.com .
