FRANKFORT, Ky. - Too hot to go outside? Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, Kentucky's first lady has released her summer book suggestions for young readers.

Jane Beshear's Top 10 Summer Reading List includes such classics as "A Wrinkle in Time," by Madeleine L'Engle, and "Where the Sidewalk Ends," by Shel Silverstein.

For younger readers, Beshear offers "The Relatives Came," by Cynthia Rylant, and "Friends," by Helme Heine.
Suggestions for teenagers and young adults include "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," by Stephen Chbosky, and "A Prayer for Owen Meany," by John Irving.

Rounding out the list are "The Horseshoe," by Kentucky author Suzanne Hall Nelson, "Moon Over Manifest," by Clare Vanderpool, "The Complete Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway," and "The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear," by Audrey Wood.
