COVINGTON, Ky. - Thirteen farms will open their doors to the public in Saturday’s Kenton County Farm Harvest Tour.
The tour – the second to be offered to the public – will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15. A tour map and directions are available at any branch of the Kenton County Library or online at www.kentoncountyextension.org . On the day of the tour, maps may be picked up at the Kenton County Cooperative Extension Service at 10990 Marshall Road in Covington and also at the Kenton and Piner Fiskburg Fire Departments.
The tour includes farms of all kinds and plenty of opportunities to purchase fresh produce, a farmers market, wineries and a pumpkin patch for the kids. This year Halt-N-Salute Equestrian Center in Crittenden, Ky. will be featured. The boarding and riding facility will show off more than a dozen breeds of horses and have riding demonstrations.
The farm tour is a partnership of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Kentucky Proud Program, the Kenton County Cooperative Extension Service, the Kenton County Farm Bureau, the Kenton County Conservation District and the local farmers who wanted to share their farms with the public.
