Can certain foods really put you in the mood?
We tend to associate aphrodisiacs with Valentine's Day . But do they really work?
Sorry to say, but there's no scientific evidence that proves certain foods stimulate the human sex organs. But that doesn't go to say you're completely out of luck.
A registered dietician with the Cleveland Clinic says exotic foods like oysters may stimulate some excitement, but it's not necessarily the food that will create the spark. It's the feeling it might evoke between you and your significant other.
Things like chocolate or foods that create warmth like curry dishes may help. Or you can try sharing foods that you both find sensual.
And when it comes to healthy eating, if you're planning to have a romantic dinner out, you don’t have to ruin your diet. A great way to cut calories at a restaurant is to make an appetizer your meal. Just be sure to avoid anything that is breaded or deep-fried.
You can also ask for your meal to be prepared without salt or choose a low-sodium option. A lean, bake, or broiled fish is always a good choice, or you can try a vegetarian meal.
