FLORENCE, Ky. - The three adult children of a slain Northern Kentucky couple will appeal to the public Wednesday afternoon for new leads to help the Boone County Sheriff’s Office solve the case.
William and Peggy Stephenson, both 74, were found dead in their Ridge Edge Court home on May 29, 2011. Their bodies were discovered after they failed to show up for Sunday church services.
Boone County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Tom Scheben said there have been no arrests in the case and the number of incoming tips has slowed down.
Tom and Doug Stephenson along with their sister Beth, will appeal for anyone with information to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859)334-2175 or Crime Stoppers (513)352-3040.
Within a month after the double homicide, detectives obtained a photo of a man seen with Bill Stephenson at the T.A. Truck Stop in Florence days before he died. That person was located in Georgia and questioned by authorities.
In July, 2011, investigators identified transient Sherman Angel as someone also seen with Bill Stephenson at the truck stop. Angel called deputies when he heard they were looking for him and submitted to an interview.
The last substantial tip came from a caller to the Shelbyville, Kentucky, Police Department on Sept. 12, 2011. That person mentioned a name, but it was determined there were four people in Kentucky with the same name.
Wednesday's news conference begins at 2 p.m. and will be streamed live on WCPO.com.
