COVINGTON, Ky. - Former Clermont County Commissioner Archie Wilson, who abruptly resigned on Feb. 3, is facing charges of soliciting prostitution and trafficking a controlled substance in Kenton County.

Kenton County Attorney Garry Edmondson said the investigation began after a woman told police she had several sexual encounters with Wilson in exchange for money and drugs.

The case began in Clermont County, but is now being investigated by Kentucky State Police, according to Edmondson.

The woman, who was an inmate at the Clermont County Jail, came forward after learning that Wilson was a commissioner.

In his resignation letter which he hand delivered to commissioners, Wilson stated he was resigning at the suggestion of his doctor for an unspecified medical condition.

Clermont County Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg said he has provided documents in the case to the Clermont County Prosecutor Don White and had no further comment on the case.

White is reviewing the evidence.

Wilson is part owner of a plumbing company called Midwestern Plumbing services which has several locations. He is the chief operating officer, according to the company's website.  He could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
