Kenton schools name new superintendent

FORT WRIGHT, Ky. - Terri Cox-Cruey, currently the second in command, will be the new superintendent of the Kenton County School District.

The Kenton County Board of Education named Cox-Cruey, who is currently deputy superintendent in the district, to the position Thursday.

“To sum it up; excellence in education, with respect for the educator, and a passion for the learner is a mark of this leader,” Carl Wicklund, board vice-chairman and member of the Superintendent Screening Committee, said after the Kenton County Board of Education announced its decision Thursday.

Karen Collins, chairman of the school board, said in a news release that Cox-Cruey is the right person to lead the district of 18 schools and 13,000-plus students.

“We feel very fortunate to have Dr. Cox-Cruey as the Superintendent-elect for the Kenton County School District. She has the skills, knowledge and work ethic to lead this district forward. We look forward to her leadership and working with her,” Collins said.

Cox-Cruey thanked the board for the opportunity.

“I am honored to accept the position of Superintendent of the Kenton County School District. I would like to thank our Board of Education for choosing me to lead this school district. Receiving this position enables me to carry out the vision of our 'System of Excellence' set forth by innovative leaders like Dr. Susan Cook and Mr. Tim Hanner,” she said.

 

 

Cox-Cruey will succeed Hanner, who retires June 30 and who recommended her for the the position.
