MARYSVILLE, Ind. - A southern Indiana man said his wife lost parts of both her legs when the family's home collapsed on top of her Friday as she was shielding their two children from a devastating tornado.

Joe Decker told The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., that his 36-year-old wife, Stephanie Decker, was in stable condition at University Hospital in Louisville.

Decker said their 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter weren't injured when Friday's tornado tore through the town of Marysville.

Decker said he was at work Friday when Stephanie huddled in their three-story home's basement, covering the children with her body to shield them when the tornado pulverized their home and sent debris falling onto her.

Decker said his wife lost one leg above the knee and the other above the ankle.
