ARLINGTON, Va. - President Barack Obama says the U.S. economy is growing stronger and the economic recovery is speeding up.
Obama says a new jobs report out Friday is more good news about the economy. But he cautioned the public that the unemployment rate may still go up and down in the coming months.
Obama also said there are still too many Americans looking for work.
Friday's report showed that the economy added 243,000 jobs last month, the strongest growth in nine months. The unemployment rate ticked down to 8.3 percent.
Obama spoke while visiting a Virginia fire station. He wants Congress to approve more grant money for programs that allow communities to hire more police officers and firefighters.
