LATONIA, Ky. - Covington police chief, Lee Russo, says that leads are coming in for three church break-ins that happened over the holidays. However, releasing them would compromise the investigation said Russo.
Russo spoke to members of the West Latonia Neighborhood Association Monday night. The nearby churches include: Trinity United Methodist Church, First Church of God, and Latonia Christian Church.
"We're putting the information out to our officers on the street to pay attention to this area and what we're asking neighbors that are right around these community churches if you see something that's unusual give us a call," said Russo.
Colleen Albers is sickened that thieves have targeted churches.
"That's terrible, people go there for comfort," said Albers.
Russo told the group that a pattern is emerging between the three break-ins that include the forcing of windows and the theft of cash and electronics.
"Things that are small and easy to carry away quickly," said Russo.
Russo offers advice for neighbors on what to look for.
"If you see somebody that's unfamiliar, if you hear something that doesn't sound right, if something is making you think this doesn't look right that's the time to give us a call," said Russo.
