WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. - All four police agencies from Grant County put their best foot forward for Special Olympics on Thursday morning.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a national campaign to raise awareness for Special Olympics. Cops from the Sheriff's Office, Williamstown, Dry Ridge and Kentucky State Police Post 6 relayed the torch through Williamstown to Corinth.
This was the inaugural year that the athletes participated in the relay by walking two miles through downtown Williamstown. Nearly 50 people, including family members and coaches, marched their flag through the business district.
The state meet will be held at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. Opening ceremonies will begin on June 4. The events will be track and field, swimming, gymnastics, bocce, powerlifting and soccer championships
