HAZARD, Ky. - A Floyd County woman facing 30 counts of animal cruelty charges says she's innocent.

According to WYMT-TV, a tip led animal control officers to a residence owned by Vanessa Howard where they found nine dead animals and several severely malnourished. Officials didn't specify what kind of animals were discovered.

Howard pleaded not guilty on Friday.

Animals that were rescued from the house were taken to the Floyd County Animal Shelter.

Officials say Howard has properties in other counties and they plan to check those as well.
