LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A 22-year-old Louisville man has been charged with first-degree arson after police say he set a bed on fire in an apartment where his 3-week-old child was living.
Louisville Police say Montrez Boyington lit the bed on fire while he was collecting his things from an apartment occupied by a woman and the newborn on Sept. 22.
The Courier-Journal reported that after Boyington left, the woman heard a smoke detector go off and went upstairs to find the bed on fire. Louisville police say a neighbor helped her put out the blaze.
Police say the woman called Boyington's mother about two hours later and that she was told to move because "he wasn't finished" and Boyington was going to come back and kill everyone in the apartment complex.
