Man faces more than 5,000 child porn counts

HENDERSON, Ky. - A western Kentucky man is in jail after being arrested on more than 5,000 child porn counts.
The Gleaner reports Kentucky State Police charged 46-year-old John W. Smith of Corydon in Henderson County with 5,440 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Police say the arrest on Tuesday came after an undercover investigation. They say equipment has been removed from Smith's home and will be examined for forensic evidence.
The Henderson County Detention Center listed Smith on Friday as in custody. Online records do not show whether he has an attorney.
