Uncle ordered to pay bond for escaped convict

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A Lexington judge has ordered the uncle of an escaped convict to post a bond worth more than $250,000.

The ruling on Monday came in the case of John Calvin Buckley IV, who has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since July 12, when fled during his trial on a rape charge.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports court documents show Charles Kelly Buckley had put up a $32,000 cash bond and allowed the state to take out a lien on his business complex in Jessamine County worth $236,000 in order to keep his nephew out of jail during the legal proceedings.

The address listed by Buckley belongs to Spectrum Financial Alliance, a financial planning group, according to the Secretary of State's office.

Prosecutors said the cash "will be seized immediately" and the property will be forfeited to the state.
