CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Police in central Kentucky have arrested a man who showed up at an animal shelter armed and wearing a military uniform claiming he was an animal control officer from Fort Knox.
The Taylor County Sheriff's Department says 31-year-old Lee Otto was arrested Monday for impersonating a peace officer, a class D felony. A statement from the sheriff's office says Otto was armed with two handguns and police later found he had aerial photos of the county animal shelter and a list of employees.
Police say Otto claimed to be a Fort Knox animal control officer. Investigators learned that he was not an officer there and that he had been barred from visiting the Army post.
The statement says Otto was charged in a similar incident in neighboring Marion County.
