CORBIN, Ky. - Kentucky State Police say a Knox County couple has been charged with murder in a fatal shooting.

Police say 45-year-old Jesse Jaynes, who is the chief of the Stinking Creek Fire Department, and 39-year-old Angela Jaynes were arrested in the shooting death of 35-year-old James Cox of Flat Lick. Police say the shooting last week took places at the Jaynes' residence near the Mills community and initially was reported as self-defense.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Shane Jacobs told The Times-Tribune (http://bit.ly/X2XMND) that the charges came Sunday after police investigated further. He said police believe Angela Jaynes and Cox had a relationship at one point.

It was unclear Thursday whether the couple has an attorney.
