Hatchet attack victim dies at hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Authorities say a central Kentucky man who was attacked with a hatchet has died at a Lexington hospital.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that 39-year-old Chris Mitchell of Bourbon County died Wednesday at University of Kentucky Hospital.

Authorities say Mitchell was struck in the forehead with a hatchet Tuesday night during an argument over stolen property outside his home. The Fayette County Coroner's Office says Mitchell's body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Lexington newspaper says an arrest has been made. The newspaper says Daniel Carter is being held in the Bourbon County Detention Center. He's currently charged with assault, fleeing from police and resisting arrest.
