MAYFIELD, Ky. - Authorities say a wreck in western Kentucky went unnoticed for two days, until a passing motorist saw it because he stopped to pick up a cell phone in the road.

Trooper Dean Patterson says Kentucky State Police were called out to the scene near Kentucky 1241 about 10 miles north of Mayfield on Sunday afternoon. He says emergency workers found a couple pinned inside a Pontiac Sunbird that had flipped into a creek bed where it was hidden from passing traffic.

Patterson says 24-year-old Heather Henson was dead from blunt force trauma. Her husband, 25-year-old Roger Henson, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Patterson told The Paducah Sun it was "an unusual circumstance" for a wreck to go so long before being found.
