LEXINGTON, Ky. - Health officials in Lexington say an outbreak of a stomach ailment has spread from a youth basketball tournament.

More than 50 teams from around the state took part in the event last weekend at the Kentucky Basketball Academy. The Fayette County Health Department has received dozens of reports of people who developed nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The only commonality was that they attended the tournament.

Jessica Noto, who heads the department's communicable disease team, said the symptoms are usually mild and last for 24 to 48 hours, according to WKYT-TV.

Noto said there is no evidence of food contamination and the spread of the ailment probably came after someone already infected came to the tournament where several hundred people were in the gym throughout the day.
