LA GRANGE, Ky. - It's not exactly Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds," but La Grange residents say an invasion of tens of thousands of starlings is both noisy and smelly.

At its meeting last week, the La Grange City Council voted to spend up to $2,000 to buy noise cannons, to try to scare the birds away, according to The Courier-Journal.

The council also discussed spreading lime on the ground to get rid of the odor from the droppings

And they considered a hiring a contractor to use a spray that is supposed to accelerate the birds' heart rates, making them uncomfortable and possibly forcing them to move on.

But Mayor Bill Lammlein said many people have told him that if they leave the birds alone, they will eventually go away.
