Man arrested, charged with murder

BELCHER, Ky. - An eastern Kentucky man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a visitor to his home.

Kentucky State Police say 39-year-old Everett Paul Norman of Belcher has been charged with killing 30-year-old Jesse W. Church of Harold on Wednesday. The Appalachian News-Express reported that police didn't give a motive for the shooting.

Pike County Deputy Coroner Denver Bailey says Church was pronounced dead at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday. Police found Church at Norman's home.

Norman pleaded not guilty to the murder charge during an arraignment hearing Thursday morning. Norman remained in the Pike County Detention Center.

Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
