Lexington police say a 19-year-old man is facing charges stemming from a shooting involving a toddler and another young child.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that a 2-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the arm by his male 4-year-old cousin.

Lexington police say Lavonne Myron Smith tried to hide the gun used in the shooting from officers after they arrived on the scene.

Smith is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

The toddler, who has not been identified, was shot Saturday evening in an apartment where adults were present.

The child's injuries are not considered life threatening, but he was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. Social services workers were called to assist with the children.
