HARRODSBURG, Ky. - Police in a central Kentucky town say a 92-year-old man held a hospital nursing assistant at knifepoint for a brief time while apparently having a war flashback. The man was disarmed by police and arrested.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Dewitt Sims, a World War II veteran, was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Harrodsburg police Officer Brian Hislope says Sims apparently was having a flashback Thursday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and believed he was under threat from enemies. Sims was a patient at the Harrodsburg hospital.

Hislope says several officers rushed to a patient room, where they found Sims holding a pocket knife to the nurse's throat.

Police say the nurse was uninjured; her name was not released.

Sims was being held in the Boyle County Detention Center.
