BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights has issued a statement in support of a lesbian couple who were kicked out of a Richmond park when they kissed.
The commission's statement says the allegations are a "sad reminder" of the need to protect everyone from discrimination. The commission said it strongly condemned the way the women were treated.
The commission met Wednesday in Bowling Green, where it agreed to send the statement of support to Richmond's mayor and the city's Human Rights Commission.
The incident happened last month at E.C. Million Park.
Richmond Human Rights Commission Chairwoman Sandra Anez-Powell said earlier that the commission has tried unsuccessfully for four years to get a fairness ordinance passed in the city
