Gas prices in Kentucky fell 9.5 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $3.72 per gallon to begin the week, according to gasoline price website KentuckyGasPrices.com .

That price was 2.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago but still 34.7 cents higher than a year ago, according to the website. Nationally, average price for a gallon of self service regular ran $3.81 which was down 4.3 cents over the past week.

Reported gas prices in Northern Kentucky ranged from $3.71 per gallon to $3.79 per gallon while the average price at the pump in Cincinnati rang up at $3.75 per gallon to begin the week.

"The national average has begun to drop nicely over the last week, and while it certainly doesn't feel like much, it is noteworthy," Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.com, said in a release. "Oil prices were all over the map last week, closing in on $100 a barrel and dropping to $92 a barrel later in the week. I've probably had more double takes watching oil prices in the last week than I've had all summer."
