Kentucky unemployment rate holds steady in October

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky’s unemployment rate remained steady at 8.4 percent from September 2012 to October 2012, according to the Office of Employment and Training.

The October 2012 jobless rate was .9 percentage points below the 9.3 percent rate recorded for the state in October 2011, according to the office, which is an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 7.9 percent in October 2012 compared with 7.8 percent in September 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

In October 2012, Kentucky’s civilian labor force stood at 2,084,019, an increase of 10,539 individuals compared to the previous month, and employment also grew at about the same pace with the addition of 10,310 jobs.
