FRANKFORT, Ky. - Unemployment rates fell in 99 of Kentucky’s 120 counties between November 2011 and November 2012, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.
Twenty counties saw the unemployment rate increase over the period while one remained the same, according to the office which is an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Woodford County recorded the state’s lowest jobless rate at 5.4 percent. Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 15.1 percent.
The unemployment rate in Northern Kentucky stood at 6.8 percent in November 2012, down a full percent from the 7.8 percent rate recorded in November 2011. Owen County had the lowest rate in the region at 6.3 percent while Carroll County recorded the highest unemployment rate in November 2012 at 8.5 percent.
